There are some mistakes from my personal experience as a digital marketer, programmer, and someone who has delivered hundreds to thousands of tech services to the global world. You should learn from me and best avoid making some of these mistakes.
These are important mistakes you must avoid if you want to grow not as someone who, after months or years, will remain in the race struggling to have a spot in your business niche.
But as someone who has finished the race and now has established authority in your business niche, who runs the game in global ranking or in your country, becoming among the top 10 in your niche. Is possible.

1️⃣ Posting Like a Ghost 👻: That is a post that disappears with no known date or time when you will post again.
❌ When you upload, whenever you “feel like” — sometimes weeks apart, you may only post once and disappear with no visible date and time when you will post again. Most digital platforms like social media, websites, Google SEO, and YouTube all function against a creator or digital marketer posting like a ghost.
The solution to posting like a ghost is to ✅ Post on fixed days, no excuses. Have fixed days in a week when you normally post and be consistent = algorithm across social media platform SEO, Youtube, etc., all love.
2️⃣ Didn’t Know Internet Was a Money Machine 💰: Funny enough, most people who started content creation don’t know the internet was a money machine
Yes, the internet platforms, such as building an email list for email marketing, social media platforms like Facebook, X, TikTok, YouTube, sosoRise, etc, are all money machines.
Yet a great number of people, both content creators, online business owners, digital marketers, all ❌ treated internet usage like a hobby, a place to catch fun, cruise, not as a goldmine.
Solution is for you to start treating the internet as a money machine ✅ Learn to study trends, watch competitors, and treat it like a business.
Get access to topical mapping online for your niche base and create highly engaging content around it. Do it not just for fun, but for business.
3️⃣ No Collabs = No New Eyes 🤝: Just the same way football is played as a team, a musician sings as a collaborator, features. It is the same way digital marketing and content creation should be done.
You may be making a big mistake thinking you can do it all alone, with no collabs, can be a grave mistake ❌ I worked in isolation as a digital marketer in years before I discovered I was making a mistake, never teamed up with other marketers, no affiliating, no teamed up with other creators. It was indeed a big mistake you should avoid
Solution is to ✅ Collab to tap into new audiences for free, not just collab for free, collab with other top creators for paid listing or features.
4️⃣ Ignored Analytics 📊 When it comes to online success, there is what the digital world calls CTR, which stands for Click-Through Rate. Sadly, most content creators and digital marketers are not aware of these, and even a few that are aware of such are not paying attention to them.
And many creators dont ❌ never check CTR, watch time, or retention — flying blind.
The solution is to watch analytics across Google, social trends, if you are a YouTuber, also ✅ Live inside YouTube Studio, track every move.
5️⃣ Scared to Spend 💸: When it comes to making the best online, there are two things. The contents and the distributions.
But here, let’s talk a bit about the distribution. There are free and paid distribution methods suitable for your niche as a creator, and most people are so scared to spend when it comes to content distribution.
I was once ❌ scared to spend, avoiding everything paid ads, as well as paying for better tools or a coaching class. These are BIG Mistakes
Solutions are to have an open heart for learning, mentors, coaching class, paid ads ✅ from day one into content creation or digital marketer = invest in learning, invest in ads. Profit comes later.
6️⃣ Uploaded and Prayed 🙏: Where I come from, being African Nigerian, is a fact that we associate prayer with everything.
I remember each time we, NL SOFT, released a new product, I used to pray, get what we called Holy Oil, and anoint the product to sell like mad. Funny, never do I know I was making fun of myself.
Not just me, we have a lot of creators who depend on prayer for their content’s success across the online communities, prayer ❌ for their online business success, inasmuch as these may work for others, who post, hoping for views without adjusting strategy.
The best solution is to ✅ Post → promote → distribute → track results → tweak → repeat and → engage.
7️⃣ One-Man Show Madness 🥵: You are running a one-man show, Mr Watson? was what my good friend who came years ago to partner with us when we launched our classified project advert.ng
Sadly, I turned him down; unknown to me, he was right. Back then, we, NL SOFT, were running a one-man show, with just me and two workers, one of whom was my secretary at the office, and years after the advert.ng never made it to the limelight.
Back then, I developed, I planned ❌ I wrote, edited, voiced, recorded, uploaded, published, and promoted — did everything myself.
Solutions, ✅ Build a small team early so you can focus on growth, learn to leverage other people’s time, and allow people to learn in practice as well as grow through you.
8️⃣ Chasing 5 Platforms at Once 📱: It’s best to win on Facebook than trying to win across Facebook, Twitter X, YouTube, sosoRise, TikTok at once
Most importantly, when you are just starting and have not yet recorded any authority in your niche across any platform online. Trying to be ❌ Facebook here, Snapchat there, buying/selling too — no focus.
The best solution is to ✅ Go all-in on ONE platform until it’s paying you big, then you can strive in others.
9️⃣ Refused to Outsource 🙅♂️: Just as I said earlier when you refuse to outsource, acquire, and delegate ❌ I thought “no one can do it like me.” It was a mistake because when you outsource, you will be shocked to discover that some people can do it far better than you.
Solutions are simple to ✅ Hire freelancers to handle some areas of your business. Your time is for strategy, not tiny edits.
🔟 Blind Copycat 🐑: Being blind, a copycat, not creative, only tapping from others. Just as the saying goes, being a blind copycat is just a limitation you are setting for yourself. ❌ Don’t copy videos, posts, images, or products without knowing why they worked.
The solution is to ✅ Learn the formula. Add your twist, learn to be creative, and give it all your best
