The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) have begun a nationwide campaign to offer free business name registration to 250,000 nano and micro enterprises, to support small business enterprises in Nigeria.
The initiative, unveiled in Abuja during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between both agencies, aims to tackle the challenges of cost, bureaucracy, and lack of awareness that keep many businesses informal.
Please Note That: Beneficiaries will be added to SMEDAN’s MSME database, providing them with access to grants, training, technical support, and new market opportunities.
As reported, CAC Registrar-General Hussaini Magaji said the scheme, which waives about N3bn in fees, is part of ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s administration to expand opportunities for business owners and entrepreneurs.
SMEDAN DG Charles Odii added that the drive would reduce illegal businesses and boost SME survival rates. Interested MSMEs can apply through portal.smedan.gov.ng or at SMEDAN state offices nationwide.
