So let’s start with a detailed step-by-step procedure on how to apply for the NELFUND Student Loan application, and here it is.
First: Ensure you are currently a student in any of the Nigerian higher institutions, be it University, Polytechnic, College of education, vocational institutions, etc.
Just be a student of Nigerian schooling within Nigeria. Only then “you’re” qualified to proceed, apply for NELFUND, and be accepted into the program without knowing any man or having any connection.

To start the application.
Ensure you use the official website portal. with .gov “TLD”. see the URL link attached at the end of this article report.
Now, before you proceed with your NELFUND Nigeria Student Loan Application. Do This
Before you proceed to the official website to open the NELFUND portal and start your application process, get your documents ready, because you’ll need a valid email address (preferably the one linked to your NIN)
You will need your National Identification Number (NIN), then your Bank Verification Number (BVN), and your JAMB Registration Number, which is compulsory for all Nigeria students, including Direct Entry. Great Nigerian students
Depending on your school administration system, you’ll also need your Matriculation or Admission Number. A clear scanned copy of your Admission Letter in JPEG or PDF format will be accepted, and your bank account details (the same one linked to your BVN). If you already have your Student ID Card, that’s great as it may come in handy too.

Please Note That: The whole process of applying for the NELFUND Nigeria student loan is 100 percent online, transparent and FREE to all students irrespective of your state, your region in Nigeria or your religion. All students are highly welcome.
When You Have Visited The Official Portal, Create Your Account And Click On Apply
The first thing you’ll do is to verify that you’re eligible by simply selecting “Yes, I am a Nigerian” and proceeding following the other on-screen pump ups guide.
Enter your matric number or admission number. If you’re a new student, you can use your JAMB Reg Number and then choose your institution.
The system will check if your school has submitted your dataset to NELFUND. If you get an error message, don’t panic. It just means your school hasn’t uploaded your details yet, so stay calm and visit your school’s Student Affairs Division or NELFUND Desk Office to resolve that. Once your dataset from your school has been uploaded. You can now proceed with your NELFUND Student loan. Please this applies to those who’s datasets that were not found on the NELFUND Official site.
Once you’re done with that stage, the next step is to proceed to verify with JAMB and input your JAMB Registration Number and Date of Birth.
If your details are correct, your name and photo will appear. After that, create your account by providing your valid email address (again, preferably the one linked to your NIN) as I said earlier and setting a secure password. You’ll receive a verification link from NELFUND in your inbox. Click on it to activate your account and proceed to the next step.
Once your NELFUND Portal account is activated, log in with your email and password. You’ll need to complete your profile settings by updating your contact information, such as your
- Your phone number,
- Residential address,
- Your state of origin in Nigeria, and
- Your LGA of residence.
Next, proceed to the educational section and confirm your program, course, department, and level. Make sure everything is correct. Then move to the account details section, input your BVN, select your bank, and enter your bank account number.
The system will verify your BVN instantly. That’s the same account where your ₦20,000 monthly allowance will be sent once approved. Save your changes to complete your profile and proceed with the next stage.
The Next Stage Of NELFUND Nigeria Student Loan Application Processes:
If you have followed the other step mentioned above correctly, congrats, and your next step now is to apply for the loan itself.
So from your dashboard, Click On Request for Student Loan at the top of your dashboard if you are browsing with your mobile phone, do same if you are on computer pc interface, and request for your school fee payment, once approved your institutional fees will be paid directly to your school.
If you also want to receive the monthly upkeep allowance, check the ₦20,000 optional box. If you only need tuition, you can skip it; that add-on feature is optional, and please proceed to the next step by uploading your admission letter, which is mandatory, and if you like, also upload your student ID card or your institution’s fee invoice.
