According to National Institute on Drug Abuse, “Methamphetamine, popularly known across the eastern part of Nigeria as ‘Mkpurummiri’ is a powerful, highly addictive stimulant that affects the central nervous system.
It takes the form of a white, odorless, bitter-tasting crystalline powder that easily dissolves in water or alcohol.”
Methamphetamine was discovered from amphetamine in the 20th century. that is to say, it has been around for a very long time and not just the eastern part of Nigeria of things, is everywhere around the world, across Nigeria
Yes we could say that the eastern Nigerians are over abusing it at this type of the year, thereby making the ‘Mkpurummiri’ menace go viral across that part of the country
It is called crystal, meth, crystal meth, ice, etc by some people. The drug works by increasing the amount of dopamine in the body. Dopamine is sometimes called a chemical messenger and it is responsible for how an individual feels pleasure, motivation, and energize.
When an individual takes this drug, it gives him/her a euphoric feeling. He/she feels good about themselves but this feeling does not last for too long as it quickly fades away. Making the victim want some more in other to get that feeling again. again and again and again, leading such person or group of people to become addictive to such drugs
Originally, legal crystal meth was produced for the treatment of obesity and ADHD ie Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and it is used by prescription. But the use of the drug has been hijacked by drug Barron and abusers.
The drug is highly addictive because it gets a user easily hooked and wanting more of it in other to get that feeling of pleasure. But as the user gets more and more of it, his/ her system gets used to it, thereby making the user need a larger quantity in other to get the same feeling of highness. Looking unkempt.
Loss of appetite.
