Here Is How Governor Rotimi Akeredolu Rose To Stardom And Dead At the Age Of 67

Rotimi Akeredolu, who as of date is now referred to as the Late Former Governor of Ondo State died at the age of 67yr after a prolonged illness

Since yesterday, the news of his death has been the most trending topic among Nigerians on social media platforms

Also trending, is when some Nigerians are mistaking his rise to stardom and death, now describing the death of Governor “Rotimi Akeredolu” as evidence of the emptiness of life

Some people quote the famous quote “Vanity upon vanity, all is vanity” including earthly wealth. They said

Unknown to most of these people, Governor Akeredolu lived for sixty-seven years, in a country where the average life span is in the fifties

In his lifetime, he positively affected the Earth, he was a successful legal practitioner who rose to the pinnacle of his profession when he was appointed Attorney General of Ondo State in 1997

Thereafter, he was honored by his peers through his conferment with the title of Senior Advocate of Nigeria in 1998. A meritorious stint as the Chairman of the Legal Aid Council followed this.

Not too long, about ten years after he became a SAN, his colleagues gave him a stellar endorsement by electing him the President of the Nigerian Bar Association in 2008

He subsequently became Governor of his state eight years later and remained a serving Governor until his death

None of these achievements are vain or empty, so therefore, the life and times of Rotimi Akeredolu are self evidently the opposite of that classification. In what most people online are saying

When checked well, he lived a very meaningful, purposeful life and should be emulated in many areas.

Instead of sanctimoniousness, what we could do is learn lessons from his life., appreciate his rightful achievement

And one such lesson we could learn is that we are one united country called Nigeria. This one thing the Late Akeredolu demonstrated by his inter-tribal marriage to an Igbo woman

Another lesson we can draw from his life is “his” professionalism. He was not a Jack of all trades.

He micro-focused on his legal career and made it to the top. Proving that school is not and never a scam and that success await us when we focus on following one course until we succeed.

Finally, we learn that cancer can afflict anyone at any given time irrespective of social/financial status, so we must ensure that we are prepared to handle such a difficult time

Therefore, we need to pour more investment into fighting cancer and other life-threatening diseases and making treatments at the local level as affordable as possible to all humans

We should also encourage people to go for regular tests and keep a practicing healthy care system as early detection is often crucial to defeating that scourge

We would all do well to get a regular health check-up, even at the local, state and Federal Governments should do more to make this a possibility for ordinary Nigerians

That would be a worthy tribute to Aketi, as Akeredolu was fondly called by his people, the Ondo state masses and friends

We join the good people of Ondo state in mourning him, as well as his immediate and extended family, to ease their pains. But I know of him, there are still sufficient reasons we all should also celebrate his life
